Olin Chlor Alkali Products & Vinyls, a division of Olin Corporation, has an opening for a Senior Project Engineer - (Project Management experience is required) located in McIntosh, AL. This role will assure the completion of capital projects within cost, schedule, and performance goals. The engineer will manage capital projects for new or expanded manufacturing facilities typically up to $10 million.

Essential Job Functions:
Gather information relating to improved plant operation and equipment, and analyze it on the basis of feasibility and economics. Arrange duties of investigating, developing, planning, and organizing into an efficient and orderly system for accomplishing the assigned project and for meeting objectives.
Prepare detailed scope of project in conjunction with process engineering, maintenance, safety, environmental and manufacturing.
Work with assigned personnel to prepare detailed specifications for materials and equipment to enable Purchasing to obtain competitive bids. Responsible for reviewing bid analysis and making recommendations to Purchasing and preparation of bills of material.
Set up cost control and reporting for projects.
Control the flow of information between Olin and representatives of engineering firms, equipment vendors and contractors in the formulation, design and execution of projects. Work with representatives from regulatory boards and insurance companies in order to obtain approval for projects.
Provide overall coordination of the various disciplines to assure a coordinated and efficient use of design, engineering and construction manpower. Promote satisfactory human relations, personnel morale and job effectiveness.
Set up project administration and procedures to assure that proper approvals are received and that all documents are properly transmitted.
Stay abreast of latest technologies, materials of construction, and design techniques as related to the chemical process industry through technical/vendor literature reviews, participation in appropriate professional organizations, etc.
Conduct all business to the highest professional, ethical, and technical standards.
Support the field construction efforts through interpretation of plans, specifications and schedules and work with assigned construction personnel to ensure a safe, timely, cost effective and quality project.
Submit project reports detailing the status of the project with respect to engineering, procurement, cost, construction, and schedule.
Assure the technical correctness of the project by coordinating the review of all drawings, specifications and equipment inquires.
Monitor and control various states of engineering and construction costs to ensure that each project is completed within the budget appropriation.
Serve as liaison to Business or Project Team.
Provide input to construction contracts, thorough Purchasing to ensure project objectives are identified and met.
Ensure that all required elements of Process Safety Management ("PSM") are satisfied, including MOC, PSSR and that hazard review inputs are addressed.
Complete post project completion critique in conjunction with normal closure documents and procedures.
Ensure all aspects of quality (material certifications, equipment fabrication, and field installation) are promoted and maintained in all aspects of capital project execution.
Act as technical consultant to Maintenance and Operations personnel as required.
Assure leadership role within Engineering Group as required for various activities such as prioritization of plant capital project list and monthly current estimate of Engineering Department cost.
Follow all plant operating and safety policies and procedures to make on-the-job decisions to permit safe and efficient operations of the area and the overall plant, according to specified and delegated authority.
Interface with management and employees to gather information and provide guidance for implementation.
Design, specify and direct engineering, maintenance and construction personnel in the fabrication, installation, start-up and operation of equipment and systems, and determine methods, procedures and conditions for monitoring and trouble-shooting.
Mentor other engineers in project management process.
Direct activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation and operation requirements conform to functional specifications, codes and end-user expectations.
Maintain effective communication and coordination with area supervisors and operator technicians.
Promote and practice operational excellence, good safety and housekeeping.
Make suggestions according to the proper procedure for improvements in operation and safety.
Complete required training on a timely basis.
Perform all duties in alignment with Olin's quality policy and per the ISO9001/RC14001 standards and procedures.
Perform other duties as directed by management.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required in either Chemical, Electrical and/or Mechanical.
10+ years of Project Engineering experience required; chemical, petrochemical or related manufacturing environment preferred.
Must be capable of working independently with minimal supervision
Must be able to guide/coordinate activities of others in different departments to achieve project objectives
Must meet the physical requirements including but not limited to, climbing stairs and ladders
Must be able to pass fit test for full and half face respirators.
Must be able to digest and disseminate written information and make numerical calculations sufficiently well to perform assigned general and specific duties and responsibilities.
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated construction management and leadership abilities. Communicates effectively internal and external contacts. Experience in leading multi-functional teams preferred.
Knowledge of applicable industrial standards; i.e. ASME, API, ANSI, ASTM.
Thorough understanding of manufacturing equipment; i.e. tanks, pumps, piping, HVAC, industrial refrigeration, etc.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Project. Knowledge of SAP and AutoCAD preferred.
Experience in the use of computerized project management systems preferred.
Occasional travel required
Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
Degree must be from a school that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the Secretary of Education of the U.S. Department of Education
